Weifarer Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Weifarer mobile application (the "App"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the App's features:

Location data — When you search for places or use the map, your device location is used to show nearby results and calculate travel times. This data is processed on-device and through Google Maps Platform. We do not store your location on our servers.
Trip data — Itineraries you create are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. We do not have access to this data unless you explicitly share a trip.
Shared trip data — When you share a trip using the Share feature, the trip contents are encrypted on your device before being uploaded to our cloud database (Firebase Firestore). The data is encrypted with a password you choose; we cannot read it.
Device permissions — The App may request notification permission to send departure reminders. Notifications are generated locally on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

To display maps, places, and directions (via Google Maps Platform)
To calculate travel times between stops in your itinerary
To enable trip sharing between users via encrypted share codes
To send departure reminders when you set arrival times for stops

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the App's core features.

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

Google Maps Platform (maps, places search, directions) — Google Privacy Policy
Firebase Firestore (encrypted shared trip storage) — Firebase Privacy Policy

4. Data Storage & Security

Your trip data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers unless you use the Share feature. Shared trips are encrypted with AES-256 before upload; we hold only the encrypted ciphertext and cannot decrypt it without your password.

Shared trip data is stored on Firebase infrastructure hosted by Google. We take commercially reasonable steps to protect this data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

Local trip data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Shared trip data stored in Firestore is retained until you delete the share, which you can do by contacting us with your share code.

6. Children's Privacy

Weifarer is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since most data is stored locally on your device, you control it directly. For any data held on our servers (shared trips), contact us at the email below to request deletion.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
